About the Educator:

Gail C. Hamel has been teaching for over twenty years. She has developed a persona portraying Abigail Whitney for schools, a local museum, and for the general public. Mrs Hamel earned a B.A. in music from Kenyon College, a M.Ed. (grades 1-6) from Lesley University, and she maintains current teaching certification requirements for the State of Massachusetts. Gail is also an active Educator and Reenactor with the Lincoln Minute Men and Minute Man National Historical Park.

Gail's music experience is extensive: piano teacher, Lecturer for the Boston Symphony Youth Concert Series, and pianist. In 2005, Mrs. Hamel provided an authentic concert with a fellow musician whereby the life of Abigail Whitney was merged with the music and political atmospheres of Colonial New England. The three day concert series, using the facility and 18th century pianoforte, raised funds for the Historic Piano Study Center in Ashburnham, MA.
